Don't mind the mess. Christmas Decorations, new TV, and new entertainment center happened all at once. We're still recovering. Frankie did the decorating on top of the entertainment center. |
He has been working so very hard these last few years. He is often exhausted. He has people tell him at the E.R. daily that they are grateful he helped them, and made them laugh. He doesn't take his job lightly, he REALLY wants to make a difference and help. I'm so proud of Jeremy. Every day, even when I miss him like crazy.
I had wanted to surprise Jeremy with a slightly smaller (or maybe a lot smaller) version of a flat screen on Christmas morning this year. I got the camera a few years ago and I thought it should be his turn. But I never get to surprise him, I swear. You see, I had bought a new DVD player that has internet apps and such, because our old one was dying. (I think the 5th DVD player we've burned through in our 7.5 years of marriage. What is wrong with us?) Anyway, it completely died one night, so I went and got the new one out. Low and behold - we didn't have the right cable and even if we would have we couldn't plug it into our old TV. Heaven sakes.
So the hunt began. The bonus was on it's way. And Jerm was like a kid in a candy store at Costco when we found this thing for the same price as the next size down had been at Target. I was slightly hyperventilating as we walked out with the TV, Frankie, and some strawberries on our huge rolling cart thing. I don't like making big purchases. (Although I admit Frankie is probably more expensive, I really like him.)
It originally sat on top of our old entertainment center, and it threw off my Fung Shway. I felt like it was a giant black vacuum in my living room. Hovering over me, waiting to fall and suck me into it's endless space. Yes, it was that dramatic. So even though we had initially decided we wouldn't spring for a new entertainment center right away, I did research, found a coupon, and came home with this. It's sort of art deco style - unlike anything else in our house. I guess we can pretend we're eclectic on purpose. My brother in law told us about a website that had the cables we needed and a wall mount for very cheap.
So that's the story of the giant TV that now lives on my wall. Oh, and we cut holes in our sheetrock to run the cords so they wouldn't show. Is that how you're supposed to do it? It worked.
